The century-long compact between universities, governments and the professions is changing.
This website is about institutions of knowledge, their pasts and their futures.
It is a platform for commentators and academics working in the broad field of education, expertise, history and politics. You will find here two types of pieces:
- Articles that examine the history and politics of expertise, technology, culture, education and work in a period when the relationships between them are rapidly being refashioned.
- Forum pieces which are more informal, in-progress discussion posts and constitute part of an ongoing online conversation.

If you’d like to contribute to this site, contact the Editor, Tamson Pietsch.
Submissions for Articles should be of approximately 500-800 words and address any of themes discussed here. Pieces on moments of change (both past and present) and articles on recent news items, or summaries of work published elsewhere or in progress are all welcome.
Submissions to the IoK Forum can take pretty much any form. They are envisaged as informal discussion posts that constitute part of an ongoing online conversation.
